During a week-long workshop I had the opportunity to carve stones, generally cabochon, or smooth-topped, from their raw form as a jagged rock into smooth stones with refined proportions and details. Using a stone saw, grinding wheels and polishing compound as well as power hand tools I created the pieces at left from quartz crystal and lapis lazuli.
