Reacting to environmental factors such as atmospheric composition,
humidity, and because of their own properties, metals will change
color and texture over time. It is possible to hasten and manipulate
these changes through the use of patination by using specific
combinations of chemicals to determine the effect on the metal.
This bowl and its components are completely copper, but has
three patinas in use along with the metal’s raw appearance.
The brown leaf in center-left was electroformed from a real
leaf in order to mimic the texture. |
